DREAM CHILD

For Dad, the one who taught me to see beyond the stars.

Look up to the sky what what do you see?
Clouds Father white and fluffy.
Look again child, what do you see?
Clouds Father, oh I see a puppy chasing a kitten.
Look higher now, tell me what you see.
Stars Father. Shining like diamonds in the night.
When I look up I see dreams yet to be born.
Stars that twinkle. White and fluffy clouds.
To those who dream, can do anything, no limits to your imagination.
Dream child uncessing. For in dreams are found REALITY.

Thank you Father for your Love unending. You have always been WONDERFUL.

ALL MY LOVE To the Best Dad I could ever have hoped for.

Heaven's Very Special Child

A meeting was held quite far from earth.
"It's time again for another birth."
Said the angels to the Lord above,
"These Special Children will need much love."

Their progress may seem very slow;
Accomplishments they may not show.
They will require extra care,
From the folks that they will meet down there.

They may not run or laugh or play;
Their thoughts may seem quite far away.
In many ways they won't adapt,
And they'll be known as Handicapped.

So let's be careful where they're sent.
We want their lives to be content.
Please Lord, find the parents who
Will do their very best for you.

They will not realize right away
The leading role they're asked to play,
But with these children sent from above
Comes stronger faith & richer love.
And soon they'll know the privilege given,
In careing for these gifts from heaven,
Their precious charge so meek and mild,
HEAVEN'S VERY SPECIAL CHILD
Lyke as the armed knyght
Appoynted to the fielde
With thys world wyll I fyght
And fayth shall be my shielde.

Faythe is that weapon stronge
Whych wyll not fayle at nede
My foes therfor amonge
Therwith wyll I procede.

As it is had in strengthe
And force of Christes waye
It wyll prevayle at lengthe
Though all the devyls saye naye.

Faythe in the fathers olde
obtayned ryghtwysnesse
Whych make me verye bolde
To feare no worldes dystresse.

I now rejoyce in hart
And hope byd me do so For Christ wyll take my part
And ease me of my wo.

Thu sayst lorde, who so knocke
To them wylt thu attende
Undo therfor the locke
And thy stronge power sende.

About Me...
My name is Marv Thessen. I live here in beautiful downtown Lincoln, Ne... No relation to Burbank. I'm a Respiratory Therapy student, we just finished our first year. We graduate in December 1999. Right now I've dedicated this site to poetry, until I figure out what I'm doing.
The first poem was written by my sister for our father when he died in 1988. It reflects her feelings of gratitude for all he taught her and the love she felt for him. I can relate to it perfectly.
The others are poems I found that I just really liked.
Stay tuned, I update perodically. I'm still in construction, so please excusse the mess.
